Answers:

1. What is the proper age for my puppy to begin boarding and
daycare?

Our first concern is for the health of your pet. For this reason your puppy must be at least 3 months old and have received their first round of adult vaccinations before they are permitted to stay for boarding or daycare services. Although puppies are permitted at Pups Play & Stay at this age, we recommend waiting until your puppy has reached the age of four months and received their second round of adult vaccinations for even greater protection. You may wish to board you pet with your veterinarian during their first few months.

4. Why does my dog seem to smell more like a dog when I pick him up
after being boarded?

At Pups Play & Stay, we are meticulous in cleaning and sanitizing all areas of our facility in order to keep it spotless. However, in the closed quarters of a boarding kennel amongst other pet guests, a dog’s natural odor may become more noticeable. Certain customers may also be more sensitive to pet odors after having not been with their friend for a while. Even though we take excellent care of your pet in every way, we can never take the place of you. After being away from you for an extended time your pet will no doubt want to be close to you when reunited. For this reason we recommend scheduling a bath for your pet before picking them up to insure they go home smelling sweet and clean.

5. I’m boarding my pet for the first time? What should I
expect?

Your pet will adjust quickly to our routines here at Pups Play & Stay. Feeding, cleansing, exercise, are all done according to a regular schedule. This allows your pet to quickly learn when to expect certain activities. In order to help your pet more quickly adjust to their new environment, you may wish to start adjusting their daily events as follows.

Wake up time is 7:00 am they will have access to the outside areas. 1st feedings are placed out around 9:00 am. All activities take place between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. 2nd feedings are placed out around 5:00 pm. Everyone is brought back inside around 7:00 pm. The kennel is closed down and quiet by around 7:30 pm. Any medications your pet may require are given after feedings unless otherwise indicated. The number of feedings your pet will receive and if they are to be given in the morning or afternoon are your choice. When left unspecified pets are fed once a day in the morning.

6. Can my pet get sick by being kenneled with other pets?

Anytime groups of animals or people are placed together in close quarters they run a greater risk of becoming ill. However as a result of our stringent cleaning and sanitizing practices, kennel design, fresh airflow, and vaccination requirements for all pets the risk is very low. Our facility is always open for your inspection during business hours.

7. My pet is so thirsty when he/she comes home from a boarding visit?
Don’t they get enough water when they’re with you?

Pets will frequently become very thirsty from the excitement and stress of seeing their family and loved ones again when they’re picked up. It’s natural and you should expect your pet to be a bit dehydrated from all the excitement once you get them home. While in our care, pets are monitored carefully for their consumption of fresh water, which is continuously checked and refreshed throughout the day. And, just like the excitement of coming home, when they first are checked-in and settled in their suite, they will tend to become very thirsty. We watch this carefully, and are sure to provide plenty of fresh water upon check-in to get the pet fully hydrated. These effects are temporary and usually subside within about 30 minutes.

together?

Yes, our smaller kennel runs are 25 square feet inside and 48 square feet outside. Our larger runs are 40 square feet inside and 72 square feet outside. 13. What is your cancellation policy?

We realize that plans do change, and we wish to accommodate all of our customer’s needs. So we simply ask that everyone take the time to call and cancel their reservation as soon as a change in plans is known. It would be unfortunate to have to upset others plans because of lack of available space, and then come to find that we could have accommodated them all along, because of someone who did not show.
